Stephanie Tyo, MD
Dr. Stephanie Tyo was born in San Antonio but moved to West Virginia at a very young age. She grew up in rural Appalachia with 3 brothers and learned healthy habits early from her parents who always raised a large garden, and hunted and fished for their meats. She went to undergraduate school and medical school at West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV where she met her husband, Stefan. They moved together to Tyler, Texas to do her residency in Family Medicine at UT Health Center.
After residency she was offered a job at a rural clinic in Gladewater TX where she enjoyed being part of a small community with their unique medical needs. She left UT with the intention of entering the medical mission field, however, God’s plan was to keep her in Texas a bit longer. She now serves as the Lead Physician in the growing Family Medicine Department at Tyler FCC. She still gets to take care of a variety of patients of all walks of life.
She thrives on promoting health through healthy eating and exercise, her clinic has planted a community garden and hands out seeds to patients to plant when the time is right.
In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband Stefan, playing music, yoga and acroyoga, aerial silks, spinning poi, sewing, gardening, canning, foosball, watching baseball and dancing to her husband’s band.
