Zareh Khachikian, MD
Dr. Khachikian was born and raised in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. He attended The George Washington University for his undergraduate degree and received a Master’s degree in Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown University. He then left the Nation’s Capital for his medical training, attending medical school at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, and residency training at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Being in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Dr. Khachikian sampled Texas life, when he spent 3 months at UTMB in Galveston, Texas to complete his residency training.
After returning to the D.C. area, spending 2 years in private practice, he spent 7 years as a hospitalist, caring for the uninsured and underserved, at the very busy, high acuity Inova Fairfax Hospital. There, he became board certified in OBGYN, and received numerous awards for medical student and resident teaching.
Dr. Khachikian has a particular interest in gynecologic surgery, especially minimally invasive surgery, for the treatment of abnormal uterine bleeding and uterine fibroids.
Dr. Khachikian has been married for 19 years and credits his wife for being the driving force behind his training and career.
